"The S&P GSCI is designed as a benchmark for investment in the commodity markets andas a measure of commodity market performance over time. It is also designed as a“tradable” index that is readily accessible to market participants. In order to accomplishthese objectives, the S&P GSCI is calculated primarily on a world production-weightedbasis and comprises the principal physical commodities that are the subject of active,liquid futures markets. There is no limit on the number of contracts that may be includedin the S&P GSCI; any contract that satisfies the eligibility criteria and the otherconditions specified in this S&P GSCI Index Methodology will be included. This featureenhances the suitability of the S&P GSCI as a benchmark for commodity marketperformance and to reflect general levels of price movements and inflation in the worldeconomy. The S&P GSCI is calculated and maintained by Standard & Poor’s (“S&P”)."
